Lee Aldrich, Ed.D., was a faculty member in technical and community colleges in Wisconsin and Minnesota before turning to writing. Born in Minnesota and raised in North Dakota, Dr. Aldrich now resides in a small town a few miles northwest of Minneapolis. In addition to reading and writing, Dr. Aldrich enjoys –daily and in this order–eating doughnuts, going for walks, gardening, talking about books, hanging with family and friends, and cooking as long as the recipe does not require use of a food processor, an air fryer, an Instapot, or a microwave.
Family History
My great grandparents emigrated from Norway and were fishers on Lake Superior. During World War II, one of the family fishing boats was commissioned by the Coast Guard to patrol the harbor incognito. Duluth was considered a strategic target because of iron ore shipments to industries in the east.
Other Things of Possible Interest:
I was a downhill skier until I broke one wrist and severely sprained the other and couldn’t brush my teeth for a week.
I love sunny days, rainy days, starry nights, stormy nights, blizzards, and snow days. I do not love hail or tornadoes.

Jokes often fly over my head. I sometimes get them a few days later and laugh at awkward moments.
Favorite season: winter (mostly).
Celebrated author born on my birthday: Charles Dickens.
A poem I wrote about a robin was read aloud to my second-grade class. A short story (an assignment) I wrote was read aloud to my high school English class. I once wrote a college textbook; it no longer brings in royalties.
Favorite living authors (some just for fun): Andy Weir, Jennifer A. Nielsen, J.K. Rowling (only for Harry Potter), Brandon Sanderson, Lee Child, Anthony Horowitz, Robert Thorogood, Richard Osman, Steven Pinker, Daniel Goleman, Malcolm Gladwell, and many others.
Favorite dead authors: Agatha Christie, Dick Francis, Paul Gallico, Helen MacInnes, John LeCarre, John Flanagan, Rumor Godden, Ellis Peters, C.S. Lewis, and, again, many others.
